A friendly, established Shotokan karate club in Worthing, helping students build confidence, fitness and discipline at every stage of training.
Welcome to Broadwater Shotokan Karate Club — part of the Sussex Karate Association and Worthing's most trusted dojo for over three and a half decades.
Founded by Sensei Robert Birchlea, 8th Dan, our club trains all levels — from absolute beginners taking their first stance, to senior graded students preparing for black belt. We are proud to be an all-inclusive karate club: a place where families, women, men and children train together with mutual respect.
Our grades are confirmed by NAKMAS (the National Association of Karate & Martial Arts Schools), and our instructors carry decades of competition and teaching experience between them.
Every class is led by qualified, NAKMAS-recognised black belts who teach with patience, structure and traditional discipline.
